While carrying out road maintenance and construction works the NSW RTA needs to continuously control traffic 24/7 whether they are on site during normal working hours or after hours.
To ensure this happens RTA used portable traffic lights that are battery operated and when discharged an automatic engine assist system would re-charge the batteries as required.
Problem: This system has often proven outdated, costly, unreliable, impractical with a lot of maintenance. Time consuming to set up there was no guarantee that the system will continue to work after the site was left till the following day.

Solution: Battery operated automatic engine assist system was replaced by a portable solar powered traffic lights system comprising of:
The load to be powered is a portable traffic light system to operate automatically 24 hours for 7 days a week.
